Kidde FA110 Multi Purpose Fire Extinguisher 1A10BC Review

Kidde FA110 Multi Purpose Fire Extinguisher 1A10BC
Average Reviews:

I bought two of these fire extinguishers from Home Depot in 1999. In 2006 my toaster oven flamed up and I quickly pulled out the fire extinguisher and it promptly stopped the fire. Then, just yesterday my toaster oven flamed up again and this time I didn't notice for some time and the flames were pretty bad though still concealed within the toaster. I pulled out the second fire extinguisher and it put out the fire right away. The only downside is that the fire extinguisher can be used only once and the material it spews out is in dust form and it goes all over the place - but that's not so bad considering it stops fires! I'm getting a couple of more of these. It's impressive that they sat unused for almost 10 years and still worked fine in an emergency. I'm also getting rid of the old toaster over :)

Beltronics V940 Vector Radar/Laser Detector with Text Display and Voice Alerts (Black/Silver) Review

Beltronics V940 Vector Radar/Laser Detector with Text Display and Voice Alerts (Black/Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had used Escort radar detectors exclusively for 15 years and thought they were the best detectors for the price. Earlier this year, however, I used an Escort 8500 X50 for a lengthy driving trip and found it just barely adequate.
I had a 5K mile driving trip to take a few weeks ago so I took a chance on this unit. I'm so glad I did. What a great product! The performance of this unit BLOWS the Escort 8500 X50 out of the water. I mean blows it right out of the water. I got warnings with this unit WAY before I needed them, whereas I got them just in time with the 8500. Perhaps more importantly, I got virtually no false warnings with this unit whereas I got them ALL THE TIME with the Escort unit. The Escort unit had me braking every 3 miles for what turned out to be nothing almost every time. Again when it counted--when it was real police--the Escort only warned me a split second or two before I would have been nabbed.
I am so seriously impressed with the advance warning range of this unit, the incredibly low false warning ratio, and the bargain price of the unit. It delivers WAY more than the Escort 8500 X50 for half the price! It is one of the most cleat cut comparisons I have ever experienced; no fine line here. I am surprised that Escort gets away with delivering such mediocre results for your detector buying dollar.
I found out about this unit by conducting extensive internet research and I'm happy to say the tests found on the internet were accurate. The only way to step up to a higher level of performance will be to buy the Valentine unit for 4-5 times the price of this unit. If you are like me then you can't afford the Valentine so you are looking for other options. I respectfully argue that this is the best value (performance for price ratio) in all non-Valentine units.

The Beltronics Vector 940 is the perfect accessory for the economical driver. When you think about how much just one speeding violation will cost you, an investment like this seems downright practical. The Vector 940 still has six times the range of imports, and covers you for all U.S. Radar and Laser Bands, all at an affordable price.

Superior Detection The Vector 940 includes full X, K, SuperWide Ka, and Safety Warning System radar capability, laser detection, patented Mute and AutoMute features, audible and visual band alerts, and all the performance you'd expect from Beltronics.
Digital signal processing (DSP) technology and multiple laser sensors give you long-range performance, and greatly reduce the number of false alarms. On top of that, the Vector 940 is invisible to VG-2 radar detector detectors, keeping you one step ahead. It also features Highway/City sensitivity settings to tailor performance to your needs.
Easy to Use The rugged Vector 940 gives you control right at your fingertips. Patented Mute and AutoMute technology allows you to quickly silence alerts. Advanced programming lets you customize several features, and all controls are easily accessible on top of the device.
Installation is also a snap: use the quick release Windshield QuickMount to attach it to your vehicle's windshield, and remove it in a snap. Don't want to leave it in your vehicle? No problem, because Beltronics includes a travel case to keep it secure while you're on foot.
Ultra-Bright LED Display Don't miss a visual alert with the 940's 280-LED alphanumeric display. Exclusive threat display tracks and displays multiple radar signals, including signal strength. You can also view Safety Warning System (SWS) messages about upcoming hazards, construction, and more.
Enjoy three different brightness settings, or operate in dark mode if you'd prefer only audio alerts.
Total Tracking Laser Unlike Radar signals, which are highly reflective, laser signals have very poor reflective characteristics. Many of today's laser detectors do not have the high sensitivity necessary to detect laser within a large "field of view." The Vector 940 incorporates Beltronics' best laser detection, which uses twin laser ports to detect energy far outside the main laser beam--including off-axis signals--providing a 360-degree field of view. The alerts provided by your unit are the same whether signals are received from the front or rear.
How Safety Radar Works Safety Warning System (SWS) a modified K-band radar signal to alert users of Highway Construction or Maintenance, Highway Hazard Zone Advisories, Weather Related Hazards, Travel Information/Convenience, and Fast/Slow Moving Vehicles. The SWS has 64 possible messages (60 currently allocated), all of which can be displayed on your Vector 940.

Garmin nüvi 850 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator Review

Garmin nüvi 850 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently bought a Nuvi 850. Here's my advice for what it's worth.
The real value of a Nav system comes from the fundamentals.
* Receiver
* Maps
* Routing Engine
* Display
* User Interface
Garmin does a solid job in all these areas. But that's not why you're paying a premium for an 800 series Nuvi.
This model has a couple of "nice to have" features that were introduced on the 700 series of Nuvi's.
* Where Am I
* Where's My Car
Both are very well implemented and can be very handy. But again, all of the stuff I mentioned so far can be found in a Nuvi costing $300 less.
So what are you paying a premium for?
* Voice Recognition
* User Replaceable Battery
* Front Mounted Speakers
Well, the front mounted speakers are still drowned out by moderate road noise. So, I wouldn't pay a nickel for that. The only real sound solution remains the FM transmitter that everyone complains about. It works OK for me, in my car, in my area. Your mileage may vary.
The user replaceable battery is excellent. For $30 you can carry a spare battery and go totally wireless in the car or use the Nuvi for 8 hours of walking around a city. I'd pay for that. In fact, every portable device should have user replaceable batteries.
OK, that leaves the "Big Kahuna" feature, voice recognition. Don't believe the hype from the professional reviews or some of the hosanna's being thrown around in Amazon reviews.
Does it work? Yes, it works amazingly well. In a dead silent environment.
With moderate road noise or even indoors with a TV at low volume 15 feet away the thing to gets confused about what it's "hearing". It should have a microphone with low sensitivity and high directionality to screen out spurious noise. A little DSP noise filtering wouldn't hurt either. Unfortunately, the standard piezo mic that Garmin also uses for bluetooth phone calls will pick up any sound coming from any direction. The result is that voice recognition becomes an excercise in frustration.
Still, I'm gonna keep the darned thing. I'll simply enter destinations in the quiet of my home, office, hotel room, or a restaurant before heading out on the road. The remote will live in my briefcase. It does save you from a lot of tedious keyboard entry. But, it is not the mobile safety feature that reviews would have you believe since voice commands are all but useless in a car. You can get essentially the same features in a Nuvi 760 and save yourself $300.
Your decision.EDIT: Update.....OK maybe I was a bit harsh first time round. I have found that the unit will respond with moderate background noise.....some of the time.....if you yell at it. It appears to have the ability to lock in on the loudest sound it "hears". So, if you are relatively close to the microphone and speak really loud (yell), it does respond some of the time.
On the upside, connecting to the Garmin website was very easy. I registered the 850, downloaded the newest firmware, and downloaded/installed the latest maps (2009), all in about ten mintues without a glitch.

TomTom ONE XL 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator Review

TomTom ONE XL 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had my choices narrowed down to the TomTom ONE XL and the Magellan Maestro 4040. It was a tough call but I choose the TomTom. In a nutshell, the TomTom is more designed to get you where you need to go and the Magellan is designed to tell you where you are and what's around you.
The Magellan has more current maps and identifies the roads that appear on the screen. The TomTom has fairly current maps but only identifies the roads you are approaching and a few adjacent roads.
TomTom has auto-zoom where the faster you travel, the map zooms out. The Magellan has the zoom feature but nothing automatic. I like the auto-zoom because when your traveling interstates speeds, it's nice to see out ahead of you.
I think the TomTom has the better screen, by a slight edge. The colors/contrast seem to be more pleasant. On the TomTom you've got various map colorizations where the Magellan doesn't. There's one map scheme on TomTom where the roads are outlined in black. It helps distinguish them from the tan background.
Tap the screen on the Magellan and you can scroll around the map. Tap it on the TomTom, you go to the menus. What I'd like to see is a menu button and if you tap on the screen, it tells you where your tapping (i.e. road name).
Reception on TomTom and the Magellan was great and the screen refresh on the TomTom was slightly better than the Magellan. The Magellan seemed more choppy where the TomTom was smooth.
Magellan can double as a speakerphone and the TomTom has the PLUS services.
While I would like TomTom to allow you to show more road names, in the end, this didn't justify the price difference of the Magellan (about $100). I think if you combined these two devices, you'd come close to having a perfect GPS unit.
As they stand, I think the TomTom has a slight edge mainly due to it's screen clarity, redraw/refresh rate, and auto zoom (the various voices you can choose from is a nice touch too).
TomTom, if you're listening on the next map update, please allow us to see road names on any road that appears on the screen! A menu button would be nice too and as an alternative, allow us to tap/identify the roads.

Building on the success of the TomTom ONE, the TomTom ONE XL ups the ante with a gorgeous widescreen, 4.3-inch display, and expanded traffic options that include GPRS- and optional RDS-TMC radio-based real-time traffic information. The TomTom ONE XL is a complete portable GPS vehicle navigation device with an incredible range of features. Like TomTom's other navigation systems, the ONE XL gives you coverage in all fifty of the United States, as well as Canada--all stored on 1 GB of internal memory.
But it's not just the broad geographical coverage that makes the TomTom ONE XL special. The user-friendly design also puts it a step above other navigation systems. The crystal-clear multicolor display makes for exceptionally easy viewing of maps, routes, driving directions, and other traveling information, such as mileage and distance. Measuring 4.3 inches, the TFT display offers an expanded widescreen view of brilliant two- and three-dimensional graphics. The device also features 32 MB RAM and 266 MHz CPU, making it responsive and zippy. Using the USB port and the provided cable, you can use your PC to add your own points of interest. Memory expansion is made possible by an SD card slot.

The ONE XL provides clear and accurate turn-by-turn voice instructions, so that you don't have to take your eyes off the road while your vehicle is on the move. Voice instructions are issued at a speed-sensitive volume, so as your vehicle's engine becomes louder or quieter as your speed changes, the volume adjusts itself accordingly, guaranteeing clear and easy listening. And because voice instructions are available in over 30 languages, just about anyone will find the TomTom ONE XL to be an invaluable system.

With its touch-sensitive screen, the TomTom ONE XL puts programming and operation literally at your fingertips to make sophisticated technology simple. The built-in database offers thousands of points of interest for you to use as destinations or reference points as you plan your trip. The ONE XL will also provide a selection of available routes, giving you the option of avoiding toll roads or choosing between the quickest or the most scenic routes. The database includes zip codes to simplify your route selection, and for extra convenience, the ONE XL lets you save the addresses of frequent destinations, making route planning easier and faster than ever. Other display features include a compass mode to assist you with directional orientation, and an anti-glare screen for optimal viewing even in direct sunlight.

For additional navigational features to assist with trip planning, the built-in Bluetooth connection provides access to TomTom PLUS subscription-based services, so that you can tune in to the latest traffic and weather conditions, as well as download additional city maps, voices, points of interest, and much more. The ONE XL adds to these capabilities with FM radio-based RDS-TMC traffic information as an available accessory (not included).

Weighing less than 10 ounces and measuring 3.4 x 4.7 x 1.2 inches, the TomTom ONE XL can be easily installed in any vehicle. An included windshield suction mount holds it in place. Plus, with an operating temperature range of an icy -10 degrees to a sweltering 55 degrees Celsius (14 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit), the navigator is durable enough for New England winters or Arizona summers. The TomTom ONE XL is powered by an internal lithium ion battery that can be charged from your vehicle's cigarette lighter with the included 12-24V adapter.

Ingersoll-Rand 2130 1/2-Inch Heavy-Duty Air Impact Wrench Review

Ingersoll-Rand 2130 1/2-Inch Heavy-Duty Air Impact Wrench
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been performing maintenance on the family cars since my dad died when I was fifteen. That makes over a quarter century of brakes jobs and tire rotations, removing and tightening lugs with a T wrench. A couple weeks ago, I bought a compressor; mainly to keep the tires inflated, but I couldn't resist sizing it at least marginally enough to run an impact wrench. Then I couldn't resist going ahead and getting the wrench. I worked a little overtime, made my order, and my Ingersoll-Rand 2130 was on the table when I got home from work this evening. I immediately went out to perform an overdue rotation on the Silverado. Those who've used impact wrenches regularly will laugh, but I was downright dumbfounded when the wrench tapped the lug nut a few times and spun the nut off in a fraction of a second. And the wrench hardly attempts to turn in your hand. Had I known an impact wrench would make life this easy, I would have invested in the wrench and compressor years ago.
I did some research before purchasing, reading a lot of reviews and comparing specs. I pretty much decided one was wasting his money going below about the $110 point. The other contender that would minimally meet my needs at the lowest price was the Ingersoll-Rand 231C 1/2-Inch Super Duty Air Impact Wrench. I'm sure I would have been happy with that, but moving up the 2130 seemed to be good value. For about $30 more you got a little more forward torque (500 ft-lbs. vs 350), a little more speed (9500 RPM vs 8000), about 2/3 the weight (~4 lbs. vs. 6) at very little additional air use (4.4 SCFM vs 4.2, however they measure that).
I was a bit concerned about my compressor being up to the wrench. It's a Sears Craftsman 20 gallon, 1.5 HP, 150 max. PSI rated at 3.8 SCFM at 90 PSI (however THEY measure that). A lot of experts would say it's not enough. Sears said it was fine for 1/2" impact wrenches and only appropriate for intermittent use with a 3/4" wrench. I did some math and took the risk. For performing a tire rotation, the compressor was every bit up to the task. I really can't imagine any job in which the wrench would be used so continuously to really tax the compressor. If you're a shade tree mechanic, this compressor had no problem with the wrench. In fact, I had almost completed the rotation when I realized that I had turned off the compressor earlier when my three-year-old came outside and was terrified by the compressor. I had done the job with only stored air, it was still holding 90 PSI, and I had noticed no reduction in the performance of the wrench.
I did not find any photos of the 2130 on the web that showed the rear the wrench. (I intend to post a photo or two in a the next few days) The red button in the side photo pushes left and right, choosing forward and backward. There is a five position toggle (at least on mine - the manual says it's three) in the rear to choose the maximum power. The switch is labelled from 1 at the lowest setting to 2 at the highest setting. Go figure. Power is also continuously variably controlled with the trigger, and I have to say that it is a fabulous trigger with fantastic control of speed. I've never used a power tool with fine control like that. I was also amazed at how quiet it was. It certainly makes little noise when it's not hammering, and when it is, I don't believe the 100 dBa plus listed in the specs (on the verge of pain.) I also ordered the Ingersoll Rand SK4M14 1/2-Inch Drive 14-Piece Metric Standard Impact Socket Set. This appears to be a great value as well.
Time will tell how it holds up, but with my use, I expect it last a long time before requiring a rebuild. I can't speak for professional mechanics, but if you're a do-it-yourself mechanic, I don't believe you will go wrong with this wrench.
Oh yeah...while you're waiting for your new toy to come, get a bottle of air tool oil. None is included.

Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System (Pair, Silver) Review

Polk Audio DB6501 6.5-Inch 2-Way Component System (Pair, Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
About 3 months ago, I decided that I'd had enough of my factory car speakers in my 2008 Toyota Prius. I haven't replaced speakers in my cars for years so I didn't want to do the whole rewiring/amp/equalizer/etc deal. I simply wanted to replace the stock speakers with better ones. After a couple of weeks of research, I chose these over Boston Acoustics, Pioneer and Infinity because of the sensitivity rating and price.
Before I get on with how great these are, let me explain how bad the old ones were. The stock speakers suffered bad "motorboating"...you know, when a bass heavy piece of music causes the speakers to make a fluttering sound like a motorboat engine. This was a daily occurence, even with the base kicked down two pips. I also had to kick the treble up two pips. Still, the treble was severe. Songs like Alanis Morisette's "Citizen of the Planet" were almost impossible to listen to because the lows were too quiet and the parts where the bass kicked in overpowered the speakers immediately. Once I pulled the stock speakers out, it was evident why they sounded so terrible. The magnets on them were slightly less than an inch in diameter and I couldn't find anything that would actually stick to them.
okay, back to the polk audio's. Installation went pretty easy. I did have to make my own mounting brackets from mdf to fit in the huge holes that Toyota has in it's doors. The tweeters fit nicely in the same place as the stock tweeters were. After the install, I was able to put the treble and bass back to flat. Initially, the bass seemed to be a little week and I was concerned that I would have to put an amp in to correct it. After about a month though, it seemed like the speakers started to loosen up. Now, the sound is great. I know I don't need an amp, at least not with this radio. I'm enjoying hearing new things in my music that I'd not heard before because the previous speakers couldn't reproduce it. One note of caution though....as a regular podcast listener, I happened to be listening to a podcast that, at one point, had a car horn honk. It sounded realistic enough that it caused me to swerve to avoid the imaginary car that was approaching on the right! :)
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these speakers to anyone!

The db6501 is a 6.5-inch two-way component system that works well in OEM factory systems, as well as with high-powered aftermarket head units and component power amps.

Marine Certified Polk db Series speakers are built tough to withstand the toughest environments so they are perfect for use in boats of all types. That's why Correct Craft offers Polk Audio speakers in their award-winning Nautiques ski and wakeboarding boats.
Tweeters The 25mm liquid-cooled silk/polymer composite dome tweeter with neodymium magnet provide clear, detailed highs.
Flush and surface mount swivel cups allow placement flexibility for soundstage optimization in your vehicle.
Mid/Woofers The 6.5-inch woofers feature a dynamic balance polymer/mica composite mineral-filled cone, which is stiff yet lightweight, for big sound with little distortion. The butyl rubber surround won't fall apart under the stress of extreme temperatures, sunlight or time, for years of the great Polk sound.
The woofer's low-mass, two-layer 25mm Kapton voice coil former ensures high power handling and great reliability. Although Katpon handles plenty of heat, a pole plate heat sink promotes better heat dissipation.

Finally, the backbone--a rock solid, acoustically inert stamped steel basket finished in rustproof Gun Metal Gray.
Installation The supplied adaptor rings enable the db6501 to fit both 6-1/2-inch and 6-3/4-inch applications, ensuring an easy fit in everything from domestics to imports including VWs and Audis, BMWs and other European imports.
The tough-looking ABS Grilles are computer optimized and based on exclusive MOMO designs, and stainless steel mounting hardware is included.
Crossover The 2nd-order Butterworth outboard crossover helps get you component system sound at a coaxial price. Electronic tweeter protection keeps your tweeters from accidental abuse for reliable, high-output sound, and the vented crossover housing gives you a choice of hidden wire channels for easier, more professional-looking installs.

Kicker 10C124 Comp 12-Inch Subwoofer 4 SVC (Black) Review

Kicker 10C124 Comp 12-Inch Subwoofer 4 SVC (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Kicker Comp subwoofers are BY FAR the best sub for the price out there. Some years back, I had two 12" 8-ohm Kicker Comps in a large sealed box (2.0 cu. ft. per subwoofer) powered by a bridged Rockford Fosgate Punch 400s 2-channel amp in a 1996 Olds Cutlass Supreme 2 door. The two subwoofers were wired in parallel (4-ohms) to the amp. THE BASS WAS UNREAL!!!!!! They pounded out really low bass notes! I listen to bass CD's (Magic Mike, Bass Patrol, Techmaster P.E.B., Ultimate Bass Traxx, etc.) and Hip-Hop and had NO problems setting off car alarms with just 400 watts going to the pair of them!!!!!!! The trick to making Comps sound awesome is to put them in medium to large-sized boxes (sealed OR ported) and to NOT OVERPOWER THEM!!!!!!!!! 100 - 200 watts per subwoofer is ALL THATS NEEDED!!!!! If you have more power, then purchase the Kicker CompVR subwoofers because they can handle more power! If you follow this advice (and have the space) you will be VERY happy!!!! Plus a smaller wattage amplifier will be less of a drain on your car's electrical system (i had a normal battery and one non-digital 1 farad Lightning Audio capacitor).
Side note: Kicker Comp subwoofers DO NOT have dual voice coils (DVC) like the Amazon title says.....they are either single 8-ohm or single 4-ohm voice coil (SVC) subwoofers. If the last digit in the model number is a 4 (ie. 10C124), then it's a 4-ohm single voice coil subwoofer. If the last digit in the model number is an 8 (ie. 10C128), then it's an 8-ohm single voice coil subwoofer.

DLO TransCast FM Transmitter for MP3 Players Review

DLO TransCast FM Transmitter for MP3 Players
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I know this product has received mixed reviews. All I can say is it works for me.
1) I drive a Honda, the radio is set up in 0.2mhz increments. If I can find a dead station, anyone can.
2) Max the volume on your player
3) Cigarette lighter adapter works well.
I have used around town and on long trips (5-8 hours). The only thing you need to be aware of is having to hunt for a new station as you drive X distance.
Sound quality can be controlled by the player, as the transmitter uses the headphone jack.
If your going to bass boost the player, set the radio to flat until you hear what it sounds like.
I use mine with a Creative Zen Vision:M. Does the job, and does it for a reasonable price.

Tripp Lite SMART550USB Smart 550VA Line-Interactive UPS (6 Outlets) Review

Tripp Lite SMART550USB Smart 550VA Line-Interactive UPS (6 Outlets)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Generally, the umpire gives the batter 3 strikes and you're out, no? Right u are!
And that's the story with this DumbOffice 550. I've gone through 3 of these clunkers, and every one of them is defective in one way or another.
I will say quickly, and without further delay, that Tripp Lite honored the warranty policy on one of these that qualified. Fortunately, that particular unit completely died. The inverter totally failed, or I suspect it was the inverter. But before discovering I had a major failure, I went and spent the money for a new battery, thinking, "Gee, this thing can't have failed, could it???" The new battery did nothing to the good. New battery, old battery, same result. Unplug the unit from the AC service, and even with NO LOAD, the red LED on the front panel, indicting OVERLOAD would come on, along with the buzzer, and after 4, 5 or 7 seconds, it shuts down. Repeat the process as many times as you like, same result.
But perhaps the most troubling aspect of this situation was Tripp Lite's complete lack of interest for examining this unit to determine why it failed. I offered to return the failed unit to Tripp Lite, AT MY EXPENSE, and they said they did NOT want it returned. This would have been an easy packing job, since I had the replacement unit's packing materials. The failed unit is the exact same model, meaning, the failed unit will fit in the replacement unit's packing box perfectly. No hassle. Just pay the UPS man and be done with it. Tripp Lite DIDN'T WANT IT..
What are these people thinking?
Ok, that's enough on this one. No one likes long reviews.
The warranty replacement unit, referenced above, hums and buzzes, and switches over to the battery frequently. And it doesn't matter which way you twist the SENSITIVITY ADJUST control on the back. And like the other one I mention shortly, it runs quite hot, even when not doing anything, just being plugged in but not delivering any load, and nothing connected to it being turned on. Slap the cabinet one way, then another, bang the top, and sometimes one can get the humming to quiet down. But I'm not going to scream too loudly as #2 still works, with the above shortcomings. I have it connected to an eMachines W3644, which is a penny-pincher computer that has only a Sepmron LE-1200 CPU and only one plug-in card, a modem, so it doesn't represent much of a load. With just this eMachines and a small 19" Asus LCD monitor, when I pull the plug for approaching storms, the battery holds up for only 5-7 minutes-- sometimes perhaps a tad more. That's not much of a load, and not much duration time. But it's better than nothing I suppose.
And the 3rd one, it's behavior is just like the description above, with the same annoying "switch to battery" occurring often. In fact, they are such a pain I have to just turn them off when going to bed so the buzzer doesn't come on and wake me up, which both have done often. This 3rd unit I use as a backup for the TV, VCR and DVD burner. Very same SmartOffice 550, and as with the others, should be called the DumbOffice 550. Or maybe the BuzzBox 550, er, HumBox 550?
Every one of these has a bug-a-boo about it. But I know Tripp Lite can do better because I have yet one more Tripp Lite toy here, a UPS device made back in 2000, which goes by the trade name of "Internet Office 500". That's right, it's now 2010, and this Internet Office 500, long discontinued I suppose, is still rendering outstanding service, TEN YEARS after purchase. I've only had to change the battery. None of the aforementioned headaches discussed above apply to this Internet Office 500.
So what has Tripp Lite done between the Internet Office 500 and this SmartOffice 550? Some corner-cutting, cheap and dirty mistakes, and they should be ashamed. Dear Customer, er, potential customer, look for something better, this is a troublesome unit.
3 out of 3 and all troublesome, is unacceptable. One of these was purchased here thru Amazon, the other via [...]. Doesn't seem to matter where you buy it, it's trouble.

Tripp Lite SUPER7TEL 7-Outlet Surge Protector (2470 Joules, Tel) Review

Tripp Lite SUPER7TEL 7-Outlet Surge Protector (2470 Joules, Tel)
Average Reviews:

The advantage of this surge protector-power strip is that there is a 2 outlet phone jack surge protector on board. I actually had a modem blow out due to a surge, and it came through the telephone line. Now I use a tel-surge protector so I don't have to unplug my phone when a storm is brewing. Note that most surge protectors (baring the kind with huge capacitors) cannot protect against lightning hits, but surges from power problems coming over the lines are common, especially in summer, and these devices can help.

Mountain 16250 1/2-inch Drive Torque Wrench - 25-250 ft/lbs Review

Mountain 16250 1/2-inch Drive Torque Wrench - 25-250 ft/lbs
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I put the wrench to immediate use ratcheting down both my brake brackets and calipers to 125 and 25 ft-lbs respectively. It was very easy to dial-in the desired amount of torque as long as one is careful about which scale you are reading (one side is imperial and while the other metric). The quality is much higher than similar wrenches priced under $100 and the seller was very prompt with shipping.
Pros:
- Solid all metal construction with grip.
- About two feet of length makes it easy to apply large amounts of torque.
Cons:
- Etched numbers can be difficult to read under certain light conditions.
- No quick release.
Note, that the case I received was red, not black, not that it made a difference to me but just be aware of that when you order.

Product arrived on time and in perfect condition. My only complaint is that the shipping seemes high at $7.50 for this small, light item. Granted, the total price was still better than other sources that I checked out, and I did indeed know what the shipping would be when I placed the order. But still, the shipping seems high...likely based on dollar value of the item ($17.20), rather than weight.

Performance Tool W1097 7 Piece Stubby Metric Wrench Set Review

Performance Tool W1097 7 Piece Stubby Metric Wrench Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My first order arrived with SAE wrenches. I returned them right away indicating such. Amazon was great and sent a replacement set by overnight shipping (Kudos to Amazon for that). They arrived the day I after I put the others in the mail. The new ones were also SAE although the website clearly indicated Metric. I kept the SAEs and sent Amazon an e-mail about the errors. I think they most likely got them in the wrong place. I didn't need a third set of SAEs so I quit trying to order. Maybe someday I will try again. Oh yeah the wrenches were OK for the price and most likely will come in handy someday.
