(More customer reviews)I never heard of this company before, but I learned that they have been around since 1980, producing good quality car audio products. So, I took a chance an purchased this for my trip. I do not have an iPad yet, so I couldn't test its 2 amp rating. It easily managed to recharge my iPod Touch and cell phone at the same time. The adapter didn't even break a sweat, or get hot. It stayed barely warm to the touch. There is a bright blue LED when it's plugged in, and the housing feels sturdy. It's not heavy, and the prongs fold out of the way, making it good for travel. This item is labeled "Made in China, and designed in the US." I would definitely consider buying other products from this brand.
Update: I just aquired an ipad, and can confirm that this unit works as advertised. You can use the ipad and recharge at the same time. The adapter gets warmer when charging an ipad, but not hot. The ipad comes with a tiny wall charger, so this unit is redundant. However, I will keep taking this on trips to recharge two devices at once.
