(More customer reviews)The nice lady at the Sprint Store sold me a black leather foam padded "case" for my EVO a week and a half before my EVO came in. When I finally got my phone, I went to my car and opened up the package and proceeded to put my phone in it. It fit snug and was protected... as long as it was in the case. Then the phone rang... I could not get the snug fit phone out of the case before the caller gave up. When I finally got it out... my precious EVO was at the mercy of my fat fingers. Not a very comforting thought. I despised the struggle required to remove the phone from the case... not good.
So... that night I searched Amazon.com for HTC EVO CASES where I found this Seidio Innocase Rugged Case and Holster Combo. It looked like what I needed for the safe keeping of my EVO.
When it arrived, I realized that it was a two part case. The inner case is actually available as a separate item and provides basic "scratch" protection (I almost bought it at first, but kept looking.) It would be good for those not requiring the "accident" protection. It has cut-outs for all of the user "access" items... headphone jack, camera, speaker, power, HDMI and the unique EVO "kick stand".
The outer case is a tough rubber "overcoat" giving the phone a good half inch thick feel. It really gives you something to get a good grip on... easy to hold, harder to drop. It has a flip down rubber cover that protects the camera lens and flash area. It does not have an opening for the "kick-stand" which is the only negative I can think of. The power/HDMI ports have a rubber flap that covers them when not in use. With all of the rubber caseing and port flaps, getting caught in the rain should not worry you.
This entire unit then snaps into a carrier unit that clips to your belt which will not come off your belt until YOU want it too. This carrier covers the screen and protects it. You can reach down, release the clip, hit the power switch all in one fell swoop to use the phone. It is such a natural, easy movement... you can answer a call that rings and vibrates almost before the audio part kicks in... it is that easy to get to. Yet, it remains firmly locked into place when you want it to. There is even a "lock" that would prevent accidental releases if need be.
I HIGHLY recommend this case to anyone who uses their phone a lot and values their investment. Three days after receiving mine... I dropped my phone down some steps onto concrete. Not a scratch, no problems... do not do that with a "naked" EVO!
